Horizon: ADHD and Me with Rory Bremner (BBC2, 9pm)
Although 3% of the adult population and 5% of children suffer from ADHD, many people are skeptical of its existence and blame it on bad parenting or poor behaviour. In this documentary, comedian Rory Bremner looks at the solid scientific evidence that ADHD does exist and has great implications for those suffering with it, including himself.
He tries out ADHD treatments for the first time including Methylphenidate (commonly known as Ritalin) and looks at whether ADHD may have first come to exist in humans as an evolutionary benefit.
Single Mums Club (Channel 4, 11.05pm)
A one-off documentary looking at the lives of single mums in one neighbourhood of Liverpool where nearly two thirds of households are fatherless and a community of single female parents support each other.
From 26-year-old Sarah who’s juggling her twin boys and studying for a university degree to 37-year-old Carmen who’s trying to make up for lost time with her daughter after struggling with cocaine and alcohol addiction, this show features all types of single mothers and highlights the solidarity within their community.
